{"id":113,"date":"2007-05-02T20:55:16","date_gmt":"2007-05-02T08:55:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/craig.dubculture.co.nz\/blog\/2007\/05\/02\/freeview-and-mythtv\/"},"modified":"2007-05-02T20:55:16","modified_gmt":"2007-05-02T08:55:16","slug":"freeview-and-mythtv","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/craig.dubculture.co.nz\/blog\/2007\/05\/02\/freeview-and-mythtv\/","title":{"rendered":"Freeview and MythTV"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With the launch of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.freeviewnz.tv\/\">Freeview<\/a>, I've decided to upgrade my TV capture setup.<\/p>\n<p>I bought a TechniSat SkyStar2 from Martin at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.digiview.co.nz\/\">Digiview.co.nz<\/a> (he has them listed for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.trademe.co.nz\/Members\/Listings.aspx?member=1094847\">$145 on Trade Me<\/a> with a 1 year warranty).\u00a0 Go buy one off him and tell him I sent you.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to <a href=\"http:\/\/hairy.geek.nz\/\">David Zanetti<\/a>'s in-depth information at <a href=\"http:\/\/pvr.geek.nz\/\">pvr.geek.nz<\/a>, and the always up-to-the-minute information from Steven Ellis on the mythtvnz mailing list, I found out everything I needed to know. And, as you've come to expect, processed it into an easy-to-replicate format, and wrote it up: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wlug.org.nz\/FreeViewMythTvSetup\">Freeview MythTV setup<\/a>. I'm running Ubuntu Edgy, and other than some DVB test utilities I chose to play with, didn't have to install anything - a complete \"out of the box\" experience.<\/p>\n<p>I'm enjoying watching Stargate SG-1 on the TVNZ widescreen test channel.
