To us, it was a gateway to Stonehenge, somewhere that served bad salads, and a city that looked like it survived on stag and hen nights from London.<\/p>\n<p>We had a guy staying in our hostel who seemed a bit boring, and hung out with us for the evening.  Cool story, huh?<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/gallery.dubculture.co.nz\/albums\/uk2007-bath\/IMG_2007.thumb.jpg\" align=\"left\" height=\"150\" hspace=\"10\" width=\"113\" \/>Our evening's trip was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bizarrebath.co.uk\/\">Bizarre Bath<\/a>, a great mix of street theatre and comedy with a little bit of history and exploring the central city.  <a href=\"http:\/\/gallery.dubculture.co.nz\/uk2007-bath\/IMG_1980\">Cathy even got drafted in as part of the act<\/a> and asked to think of a number.  (I've got a number written on this blackboard.  Have you thought of one?  \"yes\" <em>presents blackboard with the number '1' written on it<\/em>) We learned that the <a href=\"http:\/\/gallery.dubculture.co.nz\/uk2007-bath\/IMG_1986\">Sally Lunn was invented in Bath<\/a>, and were treated to an <a href=\"http:\/\/gallery.dubculture.co.nz\/uk2007-bath\/IMG_2007\">escape artist stuffed rabbit<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/gallery.dubculture.co.nz\/uk2007-bath\/IMG_2027\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/gallery.dubculture.co.nz\/albums\/uk2007-bath\/IMG_2027.thumb.jpg\" align=\"right\" height=\"113\" hspace=\"10\" width=\"150\" \/><\/a>Other cool things about Bath included <a href=\"http:\/\/gallery.dubculture.co.nz\/uk2007-bath\/IMG_2026\">the architecture of<\/a>, and along, the river: they have bridges with shops on either side of them, so you're walking down the street and don't even know you've crossed a bridge.<\/p>\n<p>Entry to the baths was <font size=\"-1\">\u00a3<\/font>11 so we skipped that in favour of the trip to Stonehenge.  It also seemed a little steep to pay <font size=\"-1\">\u00a3<\/font>7 for the privilege of walking around some stones, but the atmosphere and enthusiasm of the guided tour made up for it. <a href=\"http:\/\/gallery.dubculture.co.nz\/uk2007-stonehenge\/DSC_5138\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/gallery.dubculture.co.nz\/albums\/uk2007-stonehenge\/DSC_5138.thumb.jpg\" align=\"right\" height=\"100\" hspace=\"10\" width=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The guide was an archeology student who was really excited about the history of the place.  It was her first or second tour, so she was a bit nervous, but knew all the answers to the questions - in as much as no-one actually knows what people actually built Stonehenge for.
