{"id":99,"date":"2007-04-14T15:11:27","date_gmt":"2007-04-14T03:11:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/craig.dubculture.co.nz\/blog\/2007\/04\/14\/some-housekeeping\/"},"modified":"2007-04-14T15:11:27","modified_gmt":"2007-04-14T03:11:27","slug":"some-housekeeping","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/craig.dubculture.co.nz\/blog\/2007\/04\/14\/some-housekeeping\/","title":{"rendered":"Some housekeeping"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I'm going on a big trip in a few months, and figure it's a good time to start planning a bit more actively.<\/p>\n<p>I've used the \"<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Getting_Things_Done\">Getting Things Done<\/a>\" methodology in my e-mail for a while (basically: your inbox should always be empty, you should have an \"Action this\" folder and a \"Reference\" folder, and you should either deal with an incoming e-mail immediately or file it into one of these two folders for later processing).\u00a0 It seems like it might be fun to try it a bit more with the things I need to arrange before I go - you really do have to break things down into small steps when it's \"move half way across the world for fun\".\u00a0 So I'm looking at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rousette.org.uk\/projects\/\">Tracks<\/a>, a GTD program written in Ruby on Rails.<\/p>\n<p>Before setting this up though, I needed to play with my web host a little, so have categorized my posts to this site.\u00a0 This crosses something off my aforementioned list-of-things-to-do, and also means that I will be a bit easier to read on <a href=\"http:\/\/planet.geek.nz\/\">planet.geek.nz<\/a>, where I am now showing up.\u00a0 Also, I'll probably do the whole Postcards from <a href=\"http:\/\/muppet.wikia.com\/wiki\/Uncle_Traveling_Matt\">Uncle Travelling Matt<\/a> thing, and I'm sure my Mum will find posts about <a href=\"http:\/\/craig.dubculture.co.nz\/blog\/category\/exim\/\">Exim<\/a> a bit over her head.<\/p>\n<p>I've also seen a lot of people using Google Calendar, and now there is a way to <a href=\"http:\/\/lifehacker.com\/software\/google-calendar\/view-and-update-google-calendar-with-thunderbird-251729.php\">get Thunderbird to use it directly<\/a>, and you can publish stuff to the web in a neat fashion, I might see if it can arrange my trip for me.<\/p>\n<p>Any other suggestions are welcome, bearing in mind I will need them to be easily accessible from anywhere.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I'm going on a big trip in a few months, and figure it's a good time to start planning a bit more actively.
